Description:
Vendors and customers come from near and far, other countries and other
states, and sometimes become part of the "Zernies" phenomena, as
interesting and varied as the wares. From plants to pants, socks to
signage, weekly live auctions, antiques, tools and miscellaneous
bric-a-brac...we have it all at Zern's.
An adventurous shopper can find
anything from an old spittoon to an antique gift frame from friendly
country folk. Sample Pennsylvania Dutch treats like funnel cake, corn
relish, shoofly pie, chow-chow, and of course, homemade ice cream! There's
fresh produce, baked goods, meats, seafood, poultry, plants, yard
sculptures, new and vintage clothing, coins, stamps, toys, spices,
hardware, new and used books, beautiful junk, hidden
treasures, memories and maybe a forgotten piece of the past. Visit the
vision center, camera shop, smokeshop and barbershop. Bid at live auctions
on Friday and Saturday.
Located in Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, Zern's is
a trip into yesteryear... one of the oldest and largest markets, Zern's
Farmer's market has been on the scene since 1922 when a few roadside
stands sprang up in the backyard of the Zern family in Gilbertsville. Over
the years. "The Sale" as it is fondly called by locals, has
become known as the best spot to purchase fresh produce and thousands of
other items.
Billed as the "World's Largest Dutch Treat," Zern's
is still going strong after 83 years with more than 400 merchants under
one roof, and people unique as their wares.
